How can I make my relationship with my SERIOUS boyfriend work/be better? Help plz?

We have been having a lot of problems over the last 2 1/2 years...always arguing about something ( I have a short temper and him ignoring issues when something happens makes it worse). I do love him very much and generally we get along wonderfully... he even wants to marry me. But we need to see eye to eye more and he needs to be more open and not as closed minded about ideas and situations. IDK if I should go to an anger management cl while he is taking courses to help him get a job ( that is our main relationship issue right now) or what. Please give constructive answers, and no saying " break up with him" because i have no intention of doing that because I do love him very much!! Please help though!
