Im confused! did he lie to me or something?

i have known this boy since secondary school and hes a big flirt and very popular. But we both go to seperate colleges now. But sort of quiet and shy and he knows i like him, but its because I don't talk much he doesn't want to go out with me. But anyways, I have him on blackberry messenger and he put as his status as "going to live in Cornwall, saturday morning leave!" and then i started talking to him on blackberry messenger saying "are u gonna live in cornwall!? :O" and he said "yeah :D" then i said "ohh :(" then he said "sorry x" and then cause he was supposed to be leaving for cornwall today he put as his facebook status as "in a bad mood!!" then one of his family members wrote on his status saying "why,are you in cornwall." then he commented on it saying "No, that's why i'm in a bad mood, i can't get down, so i'll come uo next week to see u all" so was my friend lying to me about going to live in cornwall?? cause it seems hes only going up to see family and thats it.
