Why in Hindu Culture adopting a cat or having a cat at home is known to be a bad omen or a bad sign?
Really these are just only cultural superstitions and not of any spiritual-religious value. My Satguru Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi grew up in a fishing village during her childhood. There was this one cat that was very attached to her and followed her everywhere. it stuck by her for awhile. Many other animals did the samething because they knew she was their Divine Mother in the flesh. She loved and cared for it. All animals are very precious because God resides in them and in everything that exists in this universe. In order to see God, we must treat all beings and non-living beings with love and respect, never as something negative or as bad omens. People just believe in whatever they've been taught and brought up in without questioning it.
