Throwing up yellow bile?

My grandfather has been throwing up yellow bile every morning for the past three mornings. He just went to the hospital the other day because of severe pains (which turned out to be kidney stones.) He hasn't been eating much of anything but after he throws up once in the morning he's able to keep down liquids. He's on pain meds, could that cause it?
