What is a good compact .40 for a conceal carry?

I am looking at purchasing a small lightweight .40 for my conceal carry. I am wondering what to look for. I originally was looking at getting a Glock 19 9mm, but I was told to get a .40 because it has more stopping power to it if I need to use it.
